BAU Institute Edition 2009 is a portfolio of 25 archival pigment prints created by BAU Institute Fellows and guest artists. It is printed with archival inks on 11x17” Hahnemuhle cotton rag paper. This inaugural collection honors the artist Michael Goldberg (1924-2007), a dear friend and important member of the New York School of painting, who lived and worked in Italy for many years. Master Printer Katy Martin is editioning and printing the portfolios.

Beverly Nelson received her MFA in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her work has been shown in New York City, where she lived from 1976 until 1987. While she works with paint, she always returns to the clarity and simplicity of line on paper. Her drawings use these linear images to seek out a spatial and kinetic balance: a kind of visual humming. She currently lives in Minneapolis with her family, though travels regularly to New York and abroad, having been a BAU Institute Resident in Italy four times. While at home, she cultivates African Violets and enjoys the serenity of her butterfly garden.
