BAU Institute Edition 2009 is a portfolio of 25 archival pigment prints created by BAU Institute Fellows and guest artists. It is printed with archival inks on 11x17” Hahnemuhle cotton rag paper. This inaugural collection honors the artist Michael Goldberg (1924-2007), a dear friend and important member of the New York School of painting, who lived and worked in Italy for many years. Master Printer Katy Martin is editioning and printing the portfolios.

Carlo Cego
Carta

Carlo Cego has shown extensively in Italy from 1966 to 2002. Cego was born in Valdagno (Vicenza) July 10, 1939 and lived and worked in Milano from 1968 to 2003. He died in Milano September 17th 2003. Cego lived in Rome 1947 to 1966. He graduated in Painting with Gentilini at the Arts Academy in Rome 1962. He went to Genova inaugurating as set designer the Experimental Theater of the Stabile of Genova in 1966, and lived there for two years. In 1968 Gastone Novelli invited him as his assistant teaching at the Arts Academy in Milano, where Cego then lived. From 1980 to 2003 Carlo Cego spent long periods in Otranto, Puglia, where he worked in the clear light of the place. Carta is work on paper, media rice Chinese paper and acrylic. Carta was made applying Chinese rice paper and painting on it with acrylic. It was completed during the first half of the 1990’s.
